1. Swimming
Chlorine from swimming pools and salt from seawater will lift hair cuticles, resulting in dryness, color fading and tangling. It can also soften tape‑in adhesive and cause slippage.
Wet your hair and apply leave‑in conditioner before swimming. Braid hair loosely and wear a swim cap.
Rinse hair immediately after swimming to remove chlorine and salt. Apply conditioner only to mid‑lengths and ends.
Never sleep with wet hair extensions. Make sure all bonds are fully dried, as moisture will weaken the adhesive.
2. Sunscreen ⚠️ (Avobenzone Warning)
Sunscreen containing Avobenzone can turn light‑colored hair extensions orange or reddish‑brown, which is a very common summer issue.
Keep body sunscreen away from extension hair. Wait until body sunscreen is completely dry before letting your hair down. Prevent sunscreen liquid from running onto hair strands and tape bonds.
3. Sun & UV Exposure
Prolonged direct sunlight and UV rays will damage hair cuticles, leading to color fading, dry and brittle hair.
Wear hats or scarves outdoors. UV‑protective hair spray is recommended. Light‑color hair extensions fade much faster than dark‑colored ones under the sun.
4. Hot Styling
When using flat irons or curling irons in summer, do not apply high heat directly onto the tape bonds. Keep heat temperature under control. Reduce direct high‑heat contact with hair strands to protect cuticles and extend the service life of hair extensions.
